this crossbow’s mechanism of a pair of strong springs working against each other is enhanced by the magic so that there are no losses to friction. This allows the bow to fire up to 5 bolts in a single round. You may select single shot ( normal to hit), “double tap” (2 bolts at one target - -3 to hit, or “full auto” (all 5 bolts fired at up to 5 targets but at -5 on each shot).
the “Cross bow has no bow but a wooden case for the mechanism with a slot where the magazine holding the bolts slips in (think of a crossbow version of a Thompson sub machine gun) exchanging a magazine or resetting the springs to full power takes a bonus action.
