Wondrous Item, very rare
An Arcane Field Generator's a magical item that when activated reveals the existence & limits of an anti-magic field. The generator's a circular spherical device w/ multiple deeply set grooves & runes across it.
The generator fills a space w/ a 100-ft radius w/ gently floating arcane motes: small, glowing, bobbing bits that shed low light w/i the affected area. The motes've no physical effect, but anything that negates magic in the field's easy to spot w/i it. The effect lasts for 1 hr, requires an action to activate, & once activated, the generator can't be used again until the next dawn. Each time it's used, it has a chance of becoming inert permanently.
