Ari’thilas was the bow of the fabled ranger Elora Whisperwind, Guardian of the Western Gate in Cormanthyr.  The fall of Old Netheril had left rampaging monsters to flood into the neighboring forests of Comanthor.  Elora and her Silverwings, the company of elven rangers under her command, fought off floods of orcs, undead, and demons hunting them down throughout the hills and forests to keep her people safe.

Elora gained a reputation for knowing where their evil prey would be and could see through the traps and fell magics the rampaging horde employed.  It was said she could fell her prey with a single shot at 200 paces and could even shoot the wings from a fly at 100 paces.

Her deeds gained the attention of Solonor Thelandira, Elven God of the Hunt, patron god of archers.  When Elora sacrificed herself fighting of a group of demons, Solonor brought her soul to Arvandor himself.  There she joined the god on his endless hunt.

Solonor asked his patron, Corellon Larethian, to grant a boon for the elves in honor of the fabled archer.  Corellon had his wife Sehanine Moonbow bless Elora’s bow.  The Goddess kissed the bow, and with the touch of her lips the wood took a silver sheen matching the Goddess’s eyes.  Corellon tested the bow himself before making five copies to be used by champions of the elven race.

Proficiency with a Longbow allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
