A golden lyre, strung with hair from the sun god's own head. Apollo gave such a gift to his son, Orpheus.
The Lyre of Apollo grants its bearer a +3 bonus to their spell save DC for Bard spells. In addition, the wondrous instrument has 9 charges which may be used to cast spells innate to the lyre.
You may spend an action and a number of charges equal to the spell's level to cast one of the following spells: animal friendship, calm emotions, charm person, or sleep. If a spell can be cast at a higher level, you may choose to do so by expending an additional charge for each level. When you cast one of these spells that effects only specific types of creatures, such as animal friendship or calm emotions, you may expend an additional 2 charges to target creatures other than those specified. When you cast the spell with this trait, you must do so at its lowest level, and may not expend additional charges to cast it at a higher level.
The Lyre of Apollo regains 1d8 expended charges at dawn. If you spend the last charge, roll a d20. On a 1, the strings of the lyre snap, it loses all its magical properties, and it becomes a solid gold, but broken and mundane instrument.
Proficiency with a lyre allows you to add your proficiency bonus to Charisma (Performance) rolls you make with it.
