Wondrous Item, very rare

Arcanium is a substance made of raw magical material, harvested from areas full of wild magic. It can be used to replace spell components.

1 milligram is enough to replace any non-monetary spell components, and 10 mg are needed per 100 gold of monetary components. It is used in the making of magical items, potions, and almost anything else which uses magic.

If it is destroyed, it multiplies the damage used to destroy it by the spell level, and affects everyone within the range. It also releases powerful magic and can sometimes stain entire areas with traces of wild magic.

For every 10 mg up to 100, roll on the wild magic table for 1d4-1 effects, or use a cantrip of the DM’s choice.

For every 200 mg above 100 and up to 1,800, the DM will pick a spell level or level sum equal to the number of mg above 100 divided by two. If it needs a target, roll a d20.

On a 1,  no one is affected.

On a 4-5, the nearest person is affected.

On a 6-15, a random target within the range is affected.

On a 16-20, all targets within range are affected.

A creature or object within 5 feet of an Arcanium explosion must succeed a Constitution saving throw equal to the amount of Arcanium divided by 10 or gain the Wild Magic Surge ability which Wild Magic Bloodline sorcerers have. This can be cured by a remove curse spell of a level equal to the roll of the Constitution saving throw, within 10 days. A Gentle Repose spell can elongate this deadline.
