Weapon (dagger), rare
When a creature successfully damaged by the dagger dies in the same round of initiative, that creature's soul is entrapped within the crystal in the dagger's blade. The owner of the dagger may spend that soul to deal an additional 1d4 necrotic damage to a target creature. Up to five souls may be ensnared within the dagger, and all may be used at the same time.

A black-bladed dagger with a full-inset purple crystal in the middle of the blade that is cracked and shimmers with the twinkle of captured souls fallen victim to its sting. The hilt and pommel are made of a cruel material that tingles and feels evil when touched, and the handle is wrapped in the skin of its creator, a Dwarven Lich from whom the phylactery has yet to be found and destroyed. The dagger is free, wrested from the Lich only through trickery and legerdemain, and has been a blight on this plane since. Some owners of the dagger have gone completely insane, ending their own lives and trapping their maddened souls within the dagger until another unwitting claimer sets them free to unleash havoc upon Faerûn.
Proficiency with a Dagger allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
