Armor (breastplate), artifact (requires attunement by a one destined for great power)

This unnerving armor is formed from the molted husk of a large and powerful wolf spider. Arachnos is a black chitin exoskeleton armor. Beneath the urticating hairs and skeletal surface, veins pulse, and red sinews glisten. Arachnos attunes to a user immediately, during which tendrils on the inside burrow into you.

A blessing and a boon from the goddess Lolth, heavily worshipped by the drow. Lolth is also known as the Queen of Spiders. This armor has been passed down for generations to the greatest drow warriors until you killed them and took the prize for yourself.

The armor has its own reaction that it will use to keep the user alive for as long as possible, along with some other traits. Once per turn the armor can use either your reaction or its own to:

  • Parry: +3 AC for one attack per reaction 4/day regained on a long rest
  • Uncanny Dodge: When an attacker that you can see hits you with an attack, you can use a reaction to halve the attack's damage against you. 1/day regained on a long rest

While wearing this armor, you have a +1 bonus to Armor Class, and you have resistance to the following damage types: necrotic, poison. You also can move quickly and silently like the fierce predator Arachnos once was, you gain advantage on stealth checks.

Symbiotic Nature. The armor can’t be removed from you while you’re attuned to it, and you can’t voluntarily end your attunement to it. Arachnos gives the user +5 movement and the ability to cast the following spells using one charge and taking 1d8 of damage to cast as the armor absorbs some of the user's lifeforce, charges restored upon a long rest as long as the armor can be fed.

If the attuned user's hitpoints drop to 0 the armor will actively protect the user and disengage away from danger 30' per turn.

The armor requires fresh blood to be fed to it. Immediately after you finish any long rest, you must either feed half of your remaining Hit Dice to the armor (round up) or take 1 level of exhaustion.

This armor consists of a fitted metal chest piece worn with supple leather. Although it leaves the legs and arms relatively unprotected, this armor provides good protection for the wearer's vital organs while leaving the wearer relatively unencumbered.

Notes: Bonus: Armor Class, Resistance: Necrotic, Resistance: Poison, Bonus: Speed (Walking), Advantage: Stealth, one destined for great power, Combat, Warding
