The Amulet of Gambled Futures looks relatively plain. It is a simple metal amulet slightly larger and thicker than a coin. There are no designs on the front or back, and the metal appears to be old bronze, another it feels slightly warm to the touch.
On the rim of the amulet facing upwards is an open slot large enough to fit a gold coin inside, although it looks empty.
Gambled Futures. While wearing the amulet, the user may grab it and promise a value in gold coins in exchange for its assistance as a free action. The value promised affects the assistance the amulet can provide.
Offering 100 gold coins and the wearer will gain the ability to cast Misty Step as a bonus action once for the next 24 hours without using a spell slot.
Promising 500 gold coins and the wearer will immediately gain the ability to cast Dimension Door as an action once for the next 24 hours without using a spell slot. When casting the spell, the amulet will make sure the spell succeeds. If the user attempts to Dimension Door into an occupied location, the amulet will shift the destination to the nearest unoccupied location.
Vowing 1000 gold coins and the wearer will immediately gain the ability to cast Teleport for an action once for the next 24 hours without using a spell slot. When casting the spell, any attempt to teleport to a real destination is considered on target without the need to roll. The spell fails if the user attempts to teleport into a false destination.
Once one promise is made, the Gambled Futures feature cannot be used again until the next sunrise if the spell was used, or 24 hours if the spell was not used.
After casting the spell provided, the user has until the following sunrise to place that promised coin within the slot. Each time a coin is placed within the slot it disappears making room for another. The coin must be newly acquired by the user after casting the spell and cannot be given by friends or allies.
No one knows what happens if these conditions are not met, for no one who attempted to circumvent them has ever been found.
