This quill is made from a raven's feather, and when called upon, will float from your pocket on its own will: copying any spell it can see being cast into it's owner's spellbook.
This quill can attempt to copy a spell it can see being cast into your spellbook. You can use a reaction when a creature that you see and share a common language with, casts a spell to speak the command word for the quill. The spell must be of a level that you can cast and be found in your class spell list. If you do so, in your following turn you may not move, or take any actions or bonus actions, and instead can only open your spell book to a blank page. During your turn, The Apprentice's Quill will attempt to copy the spell into your spellbook. Make a DC 12 + spell level Intelligence (Arcana) check. If successful this spell is added to your spellbook. This ability may not be used again until after 3 days have passed.
As a bonus action, you can magically create a Tiny quill in your free hand. The magic quill has the following properties: The quill doesn’t require ink. When you write with it, it produces ink in a color of your choice on the writing surface. The time you must spend to copy a spell into your spellbook equals 2 minutes per spell level if you use the quill for the transcription. You can erase anything you write with the quill if you wave the feather over the text as a bonus action, provided the text is within 5 feet of you. This quill disappears if you create another one or if you die.
