Arcane Bloodletter

This magic sword is one of many blades presented to a Blood Hunter for showing a vast understanding of hemocraft, and extreme prowess hunting down the enemies of civilization. Although these blades are highly valued among the Order of the Ghostslayer, they have fallen out of favor with the other orders. The Order of the Lycan found that their natural gifts are more effective than swords, the Order of the Mutant is to busy brewing their mutagens to bother wielding a blade, and the Order of the Profane Soul is…well…you know how Warlocks are. So it sufficeth to say only the Order of the Ghostslayer still carries on this tradition. Although these blades are so exclusive, they are still recognized as a great honor and symbol of highest rank among all Blood Hunters.

When attuning to an Arcane Bloodletter you must forge a blood oath with it. By taking on this oath you pledge to keep the tenets of the blood hunters’ creed;  to not take up thy sword against the innocent, to protect the secrets of the order, and to do all for the greater good. If you break any of these three tenets your Arcane Bloodletter will cease to function as a magic weapon as you lose your attunment to it.

Vampiric Blade. When you use this sword to reduce a creature to 0 hit point and kill it, your Arcane Bloodletter drains it’s blood, empowering it with an extra use of it's Blood Maledict. Your Arcane Bloodletter begins with 2 Blood Maledict charges per short or long rest. Each time you slay a creature with this weapon you regain an additional Blood Maledict charge. Additionally, creatures slain by this sword cannot be made undead. 

Blood Maledict. Your Arcane Bloodletter can invoke the Blood Curse of the Marked (see below) by expending one Blood Maledict charge. In order to amplify this blood curse your Arcane Bloodletter must expend an additional Blood Maledict charge. Additionally, your Arcane Bloodletter can sacrifice one of it’s Blood Maledict charges to grant you an additional use of your Blood Maledict if you have already used all of yours.

Blood Curse of the Marked

As a bonus action, you can mark a creature that you can see within 30 feet of you. Until the end of your turn, whenever you deal rite damage to the target, you roll an additional hemocraft die of rite damage.

Amplify. The next attack roll you make against the target before the end of your turn has advantage.

Enduring Rite. Once you activate your Crimson Rite on your Arcane Bloodletter, it will keep it active, even if it is no longer in hand at the end of your turn. Your Crimson Rite will remain active until you either dismiss it as a bonus action or take a short or long rest.

Sentience. Even though there are many of these blades, Arcane Bloodletters are all sentient, each with a slightly varying personality. Legends say each blade is possessed by the soul of a fallen Blood Hunter.

Arcane Bloodletters are sentient neutral good magic weapons with an Intelligence of 20, Wisdom of 16, and Charisma of 14. They have hearing and darkvision out to a range of 120 feet. These weapons can speak, read, and understand Common as well as any language their wielder knows, and can communicate with their wielder telepathically.

Personality. Arcane Bloodletters all have slightly different personalities, but they all want the same thing, to prove to the world that Blood Hunters are not the monsters the world believes them to be. 

Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
