These normal arrows have had an area of the shaft, usually close to the head, hollowed out and a small, fragile glass tube inserted. The tube has 2 sections, divided by a thin glass wall. When the arrow strikes its target, the violence of the impact shatters the tube, the two chemicals mix, and a 5’ diameter 2d6 damage fire based explosion is the result. CON save for half.
Usually, one target only is affected by this arrow, though clever archers have aimed between foes perhaps catching two in the area of effect. The arrow is particularly effective against inanimate objects such as doors, bridges, etc.
Some basic care must be exercised in the handling and storage of these arrows. Otherwise, the results can be disastrous. Or spectacular.
