Weapon (net), legendary (requires attunement)

This net was fashioned from the webbing of Arasta, a great spider monstrosity of the Underdark. Arasta was encountered by the Fairsmith; Quill Orethane, and his companions. It was a short but aggressive battle. Fueled mostly by the close quarters of the tunnel where the battle took place. After the final blow was struck, and Arasta lay slain, the area was searched. Among the items and trinkets found, none was as potent as the weapon you see before you. The material for this net was pulled from the corpse of Arasta. Her magical web shines relatively normally under the light, though it is obviously very sturdy. This particular section of the web was very different. This new webbing was among the most sturdy materials known to exist. Unfortunately only this portion remained filled with Arasta's strange magics. Pulled from her abdomen, at the source of spinner, this net, this... endless web... has a distinct kaleidoscopic glimmer, and if damaged, it self-mends This net allows the wielder to pull true knowledge from the minds of it's trappings, guiding the wielder to the target's strengths and weaknesses. It can also be contracted, much like an intestine moving food through your digestive tract, causing devastating physical pain as it squeezes in on the target. This net is almost impossible to avoid, and even harder to break free from, if one is unfortunate enough to be struck by it.

While Attuned:

  • Net with STR DC 21, on a failed save the target is Restrained.
  • While Restrained, the wielder can force the target to make an INT DC 21 saving throw, or you learn; their race, their name, and where they consider home.
  • Once per Dusk, the wielder may tighten the bonds as a bonus action. This crushing motion deals 4d12 force damage, and dispels all magical effects on the target up to the 6th level.

Proficiency with a net allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

A Large or smaller creature hit by a net is restrained until it is freed. A net has no effect on creatures that are formless, or creatures that are Huge or larger. A creature can use its action to make a DC 10 Strength check, freeing itself or another creature within its reach on a success. Dealing 5 slashing damage to the net (AC 10) also frees the creature without harming it, ending the effect and destroying the net.

When you use an action, bonus action, or reaction to attack with a net, you can make only one attack regardless of the number of attacks you can normally make.

Notes: Weapon Property: Finesse, Bonus: Magic, Special, Thrown
