The amulet will retain an image of the sidekick it is attuned to.
When the amulet needs a 10 day recharge period after being used, to recall the attuned sidekick from any location (except demi-planes, or pocket dimensions (DM can limit further).
The sidekick wears a similar amulet, with the image of the owner of the "Amulet of the Sidekick Summoning", and can use it's amulet to summon it's owner, it will also need 10 days to recharge.
