Wondrous Item, legendary (requires attunement by a character with charisma of 15 or higher, chaotic nature)

The Scale of Arfax was taken from an ancient red dragon by one of the Dragons of the Scions. If someone makes contact with the scale, is willing to receive its power, and meets the requirements, the scale will bond to them until it can be removed through a greater restoration spell or other potent healing spell. If the scale remains on an individual for a long rest, it will attune to them, forcefully removing another item if the maximum amount of attunement slots are filled. This is decided by 1d4, rerolling fours. The scale grants one minor beneficial property, one major beneficial property, and one major detrimental property.

Minor Beneficial Property. You can cast Scorching Grasp (similar to Shocking Grasp - details below) and Green Flame Blade as cantrips, and they scale with your character level.

Major Beneficial Property. You may force a target to roll an intelligence saving throw (equal to 8+proficiency+charisma); upon a fail, they drop their weapon, or lose concentration on a spell. If a creature has a weapon in hand and are concentrating, roll a d4 to decide what happens. On a 1-2, the weapon drops; 2-3, concentration is interrupted.

Major Detrimental Property. If you use the major property, within one minute, and you fail an intelligence, wisdom, or charisma saving throw, you will become subject to the will of your foe, and the power of the scale will be used against you. If you fail a saving throw equal to your foe’s spell save (or innate ability) DC, you will gain one point of exhaustion.

Scorching Grasp. This variant of Shocking Grasp does fire damage as opposed to lightning. The target catches fire upon a hit and may use their reaction to douse the flames, or take 1d4 damage per round. The damage dice for the spell goes up by one at 5th, 11th, and 17th respectively.

Notes: character with charisma of 15 or higher, chaotic nature
