The people of the Smouldercone are born of lava and dark magic. Their flesh is burning hot and simply being near an unarmored one is a discomfort for most races. The heavy iron armor they wear allows the normal people to stand near them but to touch even an armored abysian is a dangerous prospect. And if they get angry enough even the armor does not protect those around them. 

Plate consists of shaped, interlocking metal plates to cover the entire body. A suit of plate includes gauntlets, heavy leather boots, a visored helmet, and thick layers of padding underneath the armor. Buckles and straps distribute the weight over the body.
