The Aegis functions as a +3 shield of expression. The face on the Aegis is that of a medusa.
When a creature that can see the front of the Aegis starts its turn within 30 feet of the you, you can force it to make a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, a creature becomes frightened of you and your allies for 1 minute. If the save fails by 5 or more the creature is also stunned for 1d4 rounds. A creature frightened by this effect may repeat the saving throw at the end of its next turn, ending the effect on a success. A creature who succeeds on the save becomes immune to this effect for the next 24 hours.
Shields require the Utilize action to Don or Doff. You gain the Armor Class benefit of a Shield only if you have training with it.
