When lit, it produces a bright purple light in a 20 foot radius, and no dim light. Whatever surface area or creature this light shines onto reveals a variety of things.
It can reveal invisible ink, decode runes, highlight footprints, trace spells and see traps on any physical surface area.
It can reveal curses, trace magic, reveal charms and reveal fiendish intentions onto any creature.
It can also be used to learn the AC and HP on any creature if you extend one charge. When this lantern runs out of charges, it produces no light until 24 hours have passed. This lantern naturally goes dark after 5 hours. If it still has charges, you can use one flask of oil to relight it for another 5 hours.
