Weapon (longsword), artifact (requires attunement)

The large, faintly glowing blade has one sharp edge and seems to be made of crystal that blurs when moved. It is accentuated with a bronze-colored metal and is held by a grip wrapped in purple leather. The cross-guard has an ornamental loop on each side. A wide pommel is engraved with the sword maker's signature, a symbol of true greatness. Aetherslash was forged by a long-dead warrior on the ethereal plane using the crystallized heart of an ethereal dragon.

Aetherslash can slice through any material. No attack roll is required to attack inanimate objects and those attacks are always considered critical hits.

When Aetherslash scores a critical hit, roll two extra damage dice (applied after all other damage).

Aetherslash contains 1 charge of the Etherealness spell (7th level) which requires a command word. Replenishes each day at dawn.

Attacks made by Aetherslash Ignore the AC bonuses given by spells such as Mage Armor and Shield.

Aetherslash may give the owner nightmares. During a long rest, the wielder must make a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw. If the wielder fails the save, they receive a point of exhaustion, they are immediately awoken and can no longer achieve a full rest for that night.

This weapon causes the wielder pain when used. When an attack roll is made with Aetherslash, the wielder sustains 1 force damage.

Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Sap. If you hit a creature with this weapon, that creature has Disadvantage on its next attack roll before the start of your next turn.
