Weapon (greataxe), very rare (requires attunement by a barbarian.)

Made by the smiths of the Doom Hammer Tribe in the Jibal Nayiqa Mountains, the weapon was made as an offering to the God Gruumsh One-Eye. He found the weapon to be satisfactory and blessed it.

Made of a layered steel, double-bladed axe-head with bronze inlays, set onto a hardwood shaft that is wrapped in dragon-skin leather and has an iron endcap. The weapon in the center of the blade has an etched eye with a blood-red iris.

Once attuned to the weapon, you gain the following benefits:

  • A +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.
  • While raging, the wielder has advantage on saving throws against spells and magical effects that target them.
  • The weapon gains the thrown property and if thrown, the wielder can recall the weapon with a bonus action.

This weapon was also cursed by Gruumsh. Once attuned, the wielder will not willingly part with the weapon and must provide it with a blood sacrifice every 7 days or suffer 4d10 necrotic damage. If the wielder dies from this damage, their soul is taken by Gruumsh as payment.

Proficiency with a Greataxe allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Cleave. If you hit a creature with a melee attack roll using this weapon, you can make a melee attack roll with the weapon against a second creature within 5 feet of the first that is also within your reach. On a hit, the second creature takes the weapon’s damage, but don’t add your ability modifier to that damage unless that modifier is negative. You can make this extra attack only once per turn.
