This divine set of pipes takes the form of a set of pan pipes, but has four pipes instead of the typical two. Each of the four pipes is tied to one of the four seasons. You gain a +3 bonus to magical attack rolls made from spells cast using these pipes. Additionally, when used to cast a spell that requires a magical attack roll and a natural 20 is rolled, the effects of the spell follow the critical hit rules when determining damage.
The Aulos of Krotos can be used as a spell casting focus, when played to cast a spell, the music it produces replaces any verbal component of the spell. Both hands must be free to play the Aulos of Krotos. While attuned to the Aulos, you have proficiency with the pan flute.
Blessing of the Wild. If you are a worshiper of Nylea, and attuned to the Aulous, you gain all the following benefits for which you have the required piety:
Piety 10+. The Aulous grants advantage on spells (not effects of the Aulos) cast against beasts and fey creatures.
Piety 25+. Once per long rest, you can cast the spell Dominate Beast.
Piety 50+. Once per day, you can travel as per the spell Transport via Plants.
Pipes of the Seasons. The four pipes —each associated with a season—that make up the Aulos, each have their own pitch and tenor. When a single pipe is played, a particular effect is created. Once an individual pipe has been played, none of the other pipes can be played again to produce an effect until the next dusk. The save DC against spells cast with the pipes is 18. Each pipe has a unique property:
Spring (bronze). As an action, you can play this pipe, you target a beast or a plant creature you can see within 320 feet of you. On a spell attack hit, the target gains the benefits of the awaken spell for 8 hours.
Summer (gold). As an action, you can play this pipe and a Nyxborn lynx (use the stat block for a tiger with the Nyxborn traits from chapter 6 of MOoT) is summoned in unoccupied space on the ground that you can see within 320 feet of you. . The lynx understands your verbal commands and obeys them as best it can, and it takes its turns immediately after yours. The lynx remains for 1 hour before fading away.
Autumn (copper). As an action, you can play this pipe and summon a wall of thorns in a space that you can see within 320 feet of you..
Winter (silver). As an action, you can play this pipe and summon an ice storm in a space that you can see within 320 feet of you.
If you aren’t a worshiper of Nylea, when you are attuned to the Aulos, all beasts and plants within 30 feet of you are hostile toward you. In combat, beasts and plants within 30' will attack you before they attack any other creature, even if a spell or ability effect directs the beast or plant to attack another creature.
Iron Constitution While the Aulos is on your person, and you are attuned to it, you are Immune to the poisoned condition and poison damage.
Destroying the Aulos. The Aulos can’t be destroyed without first playing each pipe during its opposing season (Summer played in the winter, Spring played in the autumn) without the pipes being played during the intervening period between seasons. The pipes may then be broken apart. The winter pipe must be fed to a cerberus on the winter solstice. The spring pipe must be planted at the base of a Black Oak of Asphodel on the spring equinox. The summer pipe must be broken by a sea giant on the summer solstice. Then the autumn pipe must be crushed under the foot of a hydra on the autumnal equinox. If all four pipes are not destroyed in a years time, the Aulos reforms anew.
Notes: Advantage: Spell Attacks, Immunity: Poison, Immunity: Poisoned
