Wondrous Item, very rare

A wooden door and frame made out of cedar, that seems to be able to stand on it's own, without being affixed to any wall. The door is 80 inches tall and 32 inches wide, and 1.5 inches thick, while the wooden frame encompassing it is 2 inches wider and longer each direction away from the door. The hinges seem to be made out of mithril. It is adorned with a doorknocker on the top center of the door right around the view line. The doorknocker design is in the shape of a dragon, golden, with emerald eyes, biting the ring of the doorknocker, and seems to have been rarely used by anyone. It also has a quite simple door handle, made out of iron, painted in gold, that has lost a lot of the luster through use, some part of the paint faded and chipped. Along both sides of the door frame, several ancient runes are carved, and slightly glow whenever the door is open.

Below the center of the door, a small chute is located. One can open it and slip small notes through it, however, they disappear to somewhere else. Opening the chute and attempting to look through it shows a small den, with a firewall on the far side of the room and a tall, imposing armchair facing it.

If one simply opens the door, it will show passage to any other door frame in the world. Not at random, in a sequential order. The door frame on the other side doesn't have to match in size or material, only be a well-defined door frame. If a person opens a door to an underwater location water will not rush instantly through the door, but rather, it will look like it's slowly seeping into the room. The same is true for snow, lava and other fluids. Closing the door closes the portal to that location.

If one knocks on the door, or uses the dragon knocker, they will hear a heavy groan on the other side of the door, before hearing someone walking towards the door, followed with a small 'click'. Attempting to open the door after that will reveal passage to any entrance in the world, no longer bound to a door frame, however, the location will always be a dangerous location, such as a dragon's den, or the middle of a battlefield. Closing the door afterwards and opening it again will revert the door to lead to any other door frame in the world. Knocking on the door multiple times in a single day will eventually lead to a heavy thud on the other side of the door, rendering the door unusable for 24-48 hours.

It is said that if a person slips coins, or valuables through the mail chute, it increases the likelihood of opening passage to somewhere the person wants to go, or even needs to go, even if they are not aware of it.

Breaking the door frame while open, causes a 200 ft explosion on both locations, and creates a portal to the Astral Plane on both locations.

Breaking the door and/or door frame while closed, simply removes any magical property from the door. Another door is created somewhere else.
