The Arrow of Shadowspear is a blackened length of fae wood with tiny golden runes inset at irregular intervals, tipped by a silver point and feathered by an unknown fae bird.
You have a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with the Arrow of Shadowspear when using it as ammunition against creatures.
When wielding the Arrow of Shadowspear, you may make an attack roll against a target's shadow. The target must make a Dex Save against your attack roll. On a failure, the target's shadow is pinned to the ground (or wall, as applicable) by the Arrow of Shadowspear. This has no effect if the target is not casting a shadow (for example, because they are in darkness or they are surrounded by light sources).
A target who has their shadow pinned cannot voluntarily move in a way that would cause their shadow to leave the spot where the Arrow of Shadowspear is rooted. They may move up to their height, rounded down to the nearest multiple of five feet, towards a light source away from where their shadow is pinned.
If an effect would cause a pinned target to involuntarily move in such a way that their shadow would leave the spot, instead the target does not move and they take 1d6 typeless damage for every 10 feet they would have moved. If they would move less than 10 feet, instead they take 1d4 typeless damage. The target can halve this damage with a successful Con save, DC 14.
If a target's shadow is pinned, the target is rendered unable to meaningfully interact with the Arrow of Shadowspear until another entity removes it.
Proficiency with a Shortbow allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Vex. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to the creature, you have Advantage on your next attack roll against that creature before the end of your next turn.
