This crossbow is made of extremely strong, yet light, metal and engraved with magic runes. When fired by an individual who is attuned, it grants the following benefits to its ammunition:
- The bolts are considered magical for the purposes of overcoming immunity and resistance to nonmagical damage and become non-magical after missing a target and are destroyed on impact with a target.
- The bolts shed dim light immediately around them when flying through the air.
- On a critical hit, the bolt does an additional 4d6 force damage (calculated after the critical hit is resolved.)
- On a critical failure, or natural one, a burst of uncontrollable arcane energy is released. Roll a d100 and the DM consults the wild magic table, targets chosen without knowing the effect if applicable.
Proficiency with a Light Crossbow allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Slow. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to it, you can reduce its Speed by 10 feet until the start of your next turn. If the creature is hit more than once by weapons that have this property, the Speed reduction doesn’t exceed 10 feet.
