Weapon (dagger), artifact (requires attunement by a follower of the Archdevil, Andras)

The wicked Andras' Poniard rarely leaves the possession of his devote followers. The blade, as sharp as its creator, shares the desire to grow in strength, drawing in the essence of any who should fall to its blows. 

Made from a dark metal, the blade of this slim dagger has a barb near the hilt, a reminder that what can easily enter one's body, cannot always so easily be removed. The dagger can magically change in size to better conform to the grip of its user. flames flicker and dim in the blade’s presence.

In the hands of one who is attuned to it, the blade can be wielded as a magic dagger that grants a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it. The dagger deals an extra 1d8 necrotic damage on a hit.

Random Properties

The Andras' Poniard has the following random properties:

  • 2 minor beneficial properties
  • 1 major beneficial property
  • 2 minor detrimental properties
  • 1 major detrimental property

The detrimental properties of the Andras' Poniard are suppressed for 24 hours after tasting humanoid blood of someone not attuned to the blade.

Protection

You gain a +1 bonus to Armor Class while holding the dagger.

Spells

Andras' Poniard can be used as a spellcasting focus for any attuned to it. The dagger has 5 charges. While holding it, you can use an action and expend 1 or more of its charges to cast one of the following spells (save DC 16) from it: inflict wounds (1 charge), blight (3 charges), animate dead (3 charges), finger of death (4 charges) The dagger regains 1d4 + 1 expended charges daily at dawn.

Call Undead

While you are holding the dagger, you can use an action to conjure skeletons and zombies, calling forth as many of them as you can divide 50 hit points among, each undead having average hit points. The undead magically rise up from the ground or otherwise form in unoccupied spaces within 60 feet of you and obey your commands until they are destroyed or until dawn of the next day, when they collapse into inanimate piles of bones and rotting corpses. Once you use this property of the dagger, you can’t use it again until the next dawn.

Destroying the Dagger

Destroying Andras' Poniard requires that it be taken to the infernos of the Hells and cast into the Hellforge used to create it, only the magically imbued flames of the Hellforge can raise the temperature of the metal high enough to melt it and dispurse the magic used in its creation.

Proficiency with a Dagger allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.


This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Nick. When you make the extra attack of the Light property, you can make it as part of the Attack action instead of as a Bonus Action. You can make this extra attack only once per turn.
