Ancient Treeman's Noose

Thick, old, claggy hempen rope with a scraggly frayed heavy thirteen-twist noose hanging from its tip. 

You gain a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. In addition, the weapon ignores resistance to necrotic damage. This magic weapon has the reach property of 15 ft. allowing a creature with a reach of 5 ft. to attack targets 20 ft. away. Attuning to this magic weapon replaces its damage dies with 3d4 necrotic damage instead of 1d4 slashing damage. When you attack a creature with this magic weapon, on a hit: the target is grappled (escape DC 17) and is suffocating (unable to breathe or hold their breath) if it has a head. While grappling a creature, the weapon cannot be used to make an attack against another target. A target that starts their turn grappled by this weapon takes 6d8 necrotic damage as the noose tightens around their neck. The rope can be attacked while grappling a creature, either by the creature being grappled or another creature within reach. The Noose has AC 14 (19 vs Piercing attacks) and 33 Hit Points; Immunity to Nonmagical weapon attacks; Immunity to Bludgeoning; Resistance to Piercing and Vulnerability to Slashing. If destroyed, the weapon reduces to ash and becomes unusable, not even a wish spell can restore it. After taking a long rest, if the wielder is still attuned to the weapon, they wake up with it loosely hanging around their neck after resting.

Proficiency with a Whip allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
