This machine, "Adrionus," is likely the only example of its kind. Intricately made and bafflingly complex in operation, it truly speaks to the eccentricity of its designer, the Fanatic Adrion. It is shaped roughly like a steel watering can, yet instead of a spout at its front, the device bears a complex series of tubes and gears and braces, all leading to a disc-shaped vaporizer at its head. Inside, there are slots for two separate canisters, which can be used alternately should the operator desire. An experimental device, it should be handled with caution; even careful handling can cause a misfire.
While attuned to this item, you gain access to the following abilities:
- The Adrionus comes with two steel canisters. Each canister can hold the contents of 3 standard-size glass vials. As an action, you can remove a canister from the Adrionus and fill it with the equivalent of 1 vial's worth of fluid. Filling a canister to the brim takes 3 actions, and putting a canister back in the device takes a bonus action. Both canisters can be loaded at once, but only one can be used at a time. As a bonus action, you can change which canister is active.
- As an action, you can pull the trigger of the Adrionus. When you do, the device unleashes a cloud of mist in a 30 ft. cone in front of you, made of whatever liquid is currently loaded in the active canister, and consuming 1 standard vial's worth of liquid. If the liquid is of a magical nature its effects, in their entirety, apply to any creature that enters the mist or starts its turn there, even if the liquid normally would not do anything when airborne. The mist dissipates after one minute.
- When you pull the trigger on the Adrionus, roll a D20. On a 1, 2, or 3, the device misfires. Mist from both canisters is instead dispersed in a 30 ft. radius, centered on you, and the device is rendered inoperable until you can get it repaired by an artisan. On a 20, the mist is instead dispersed in a 60 ft. cone in front of you.
