Scale armor is constructed with many small, individual scales attached to leather in overlapping rows by rivets or lacing. An armorer always uses metal scales; however repairs can be completed with scales made from boiled leather, seeds, horn, bone, or scales harvested from animals.
This armor consists of a padded gambeson, tough but flexible leather pants, a scaled tunic, and a thick leather belt. An additional mantle of thick leather set with scales protects the neck, shoulders, and upper arms. This armor also includes leather gauntlets with articulated fingers.
This armor consists of a coat and leggings (and perhaps a separate skirt) of leather covered with overlapping pieces of metal, much like the scales of a fish. The suit includes gauntlets.
