Splints are narrow vertical strips of metal riveted or sewn to a backing of leather. These splinted pieces reinforce the underlying armor against blows, without the cost and maintenance required of mail or plate.
A full suit of splinted leather armor includes a gambeson, a brigandine, tough but flexible leather pants, and a skull cap of boiled leather. Splint spaulders, vambraces, and greaves are strapped to the shoulders, arms, and legs, respectively.
This armor is made of narrow vertical strips of metal riveted to a backing of leather that is worn over cloth padding. Flexible chain mail protects the joints.
Notes: Bonus: Armor Class, 40 gp, Combat, Warding, Str. 15 Required, Stealth Disadvantage
