Before the chaos of the Blood Wars, the Drow were known as the "Moon Elves" and had fully dedicated their society to the elven goddess Selune. Their corruption and fall to the Spider God Lolth, and the tragic, twist collapse of their civilization is mostly lost to the histories on the surface world, yet sometimes relics of their lost world are said to appear to those who are on the cusp of a rise to greatness, or at the precipice of a terrible plunge into the dark. Curious, then, that such an artifact would pass into the hands of an exceptionally impetuous Demi-Boy...
"Astra," as this bow is known, is a +1 crescent longbow with the following properties:
New Moon: Just as the light returns to the face of the moon, so too does your spirit when you fire this bow. When you would deal damage with Astra in combat to a hostile creature, heal up to 2 HP. If you are in the light of the moon, heal up to 4 HP instead.
Waxing: The moon's light gains strength night after night, just as an archer's shot gains more and more precision with each thrum of his bowstring. With each shot that hits a hostile creature in combat, Astra hums and glows with the soft light of the moon, this phenomenon growing louder and brighter with each successful shot. On the 5th successful shot in a row, the Astra unleashes the power of Selune upon the target, dealing an additional 4d6 radiant damage. In the light of the moon, this effect occurs on the 3rd successful shot instead.
Waning: The light of the moon may fade from the night sky, but its spirit never wavers. At the start of your turn in combat, if you have 10 HP or less, roll a d20. On a 10 or higher, Astra imbues the wielder with the effects of the "Haste" spell, with concentration. In the light of the moon, the effects of Astra's "Haste" do not cause the lethargy effect on the turn after the effect is ended or dispelled. Limit once per long rest.
Full Moon: At full strength, nothing can match the glory of the moon in it's zenith. When you are at full health and in combat, you may cast the spell "Misty Step" up to 3 times. Additionally, you may attempt to "overcharge" Astra, and unleash a barrage of radiant arrows all at once, rather than simply fire a single shot. Selecting this shot consumes your entire action. Select a number between 1-5, and roll a d20 that many times, taking the lowest roll and then applying modifiers. On a hit, Astra unleashes a devastating volley of radiant arrows that pierce the target for 2d10 time the number of d20's rolled. On a miss, Astra overloads in your zealous pride. Roll d6s equal to the number of d20's rolled, and deal that much damage to yourself. In the light of the moon, you may cast Misty Step as many times as you wish, and Astra can be overcharged to any number from 1-10.
Proficiency with a Longbow allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
