A simple band of polished brass, etched with rough runes of power.
The Arcanist's Ring of Prepared Power can hold up to 5 charges. A spellcaster attuned to the ring may expend charges in place of spellslots to cast spells they have prepared. Alternatively, when you cast a spell using your own spellslots, you may expend charges to cast the spell at a higher level. Each charge is worth one level of spellslot.
When you cast a spell using at least one charge from the Ring of Prepared Power, the ring is used as the spellcasting focus for the spell. You may not cast a spell at a higher level than you would normally be able to do so using a spellslot.
To recharge the ring, you may use an action to expend a spellslot available to you, converting it into a number of charges equal to the spellslot expended.
When found, the ring has 1d6 – 1 charges already stored in its band.
