Armor (scale mail), very rare (requires attunement by a Cleric of the Death domain, a Warlock of the Undead or Undying, or a Wizard of the Necromancy school; Must have a +4 proficiency bonus)

Armour fashioned from bones, stitched together with tendons and etched with necromantic runes. A Cleric, Warlock, or Wizard acquainted with the magic of death may simultaneously craft and attune to such an article. Creating Armour of the Death Rattle requires the bones and tendons of at least one large creature or two medium creatures, and a ritual performed over one hour or as part of a long rest. The practitioner who crafts and attunes to the Armour of the Death Rattle is proficient with it. If they become unattuned to it, its magic fades away and it becomes a mundane suit of ivory armour equivalent to scale mail. The armour rattles as it moves, the sound something akin to a bamboo wind chime.

You have a +1 bonus to your AC while wearing this armour.

If a creature that is not a construct, plant, or an undead dies within 5 feet of you while you are wearing Armour of the Death Rattle, a piece of the creature's soul becomes trapped in the hollow bones that make up the armour, and you gain a number of temporary hit points: 1 hit point if the creature was tiny or small; 2 hit points if it was medium or large; 3 hit points if the creature was huge; and 5 hit points if it was gargantuan. You may have a maximum number of temporary hit points gained in this way equal to your combined levels in Cleric of the Death domain, Warlock of the Undead or Undying, and Wizard of the Necromancy school.

If you are suffer bludgeoning damage while wearing the Armour of the Death Rattle, roll a d20. If the number you roll on the d20 is equal to or lower than half the bludgeoning damage that was inflicted (rounded up), the armour suffers a cumulative -1 penalty to its AC bonus. If its AC is reduced by -5, the armour is destroyed. You may cast mending on the armour to repair it for 1 point of damage, but you must have the bones of a small or bigger creature to do so. If another creature attempt to repair the armour, the spell fails.

You can use a bonus action and expend 1 stored temporary hit point to pull a small piece of bone, such as a finger or toe bone, from the armour. Doing so does not degrade the armour in any way. The bone weighs 1 lb, and may serve any purpose requiring such a material component. The bone may also be used to craft a Wand of the Fallen, or an Athame of the Fallen.

This armor consists of a coat and leggings (and perhaps a separate skirt) of leather covered with overlapping pieces of metal, much like the scales of a fish. The suit includes gauntlets.

Notes: Bonus: Armor Class, Proficiency: Self, Cleric of the Death domain, a Warlock of the Undead or Undying, or a Wizard of the Necromancy school; Must have a +4 proficiency bonus, Combat, Warding, Stealth Disadvantage
