"A satisfying tool for those who wish to machinate and control the world." - Duke Garyn ir'McDowell
Created by the gnome artificer Dr. Zaxxon Nax, the Wand of Tagging is able to inscribe an arcane mark on living creatures. The mark is momentarily visible but disappears within seconds. It may be seen with abilities that can Detect Magic, Detect Invisible, or True Seeing. The arcane mark may not be removed except by a Dispel Magic, Remove Curse, or Wish type spell. The Wand of Tagging may only mark one creature at a time. If a second creature is marked, the previous mark disappears from the first creature. The holder of the wand may Locate Creature.
Tagging a Creature
The wielder of the Wand of Tagging must be within 10ft of the target creature and may specify the look of any marking tag with respect to color, size, location, and visibility. By default the tag mark becomes invisible after a few seconds. The act of tagging requires magical energy and expends a spellslot.
Locating a Tagged Creature
The arcane mark is detectable and trackable by the wielder of the Wand of Tagging, which will guide by direction, vibration, and vibrational intensity. Effects that can block scrying and detection will block the Wand of Tagging.
There is a DC depending on the distance of the tagged creature. The wand provides a +2 bonus and ADVANTAGE with Investigation Checks for locating a tagged creature only.
