Originally created as a military stronghold to guard a main entrance to the Feydark, Mithrendain's original purpose was lost, blossoming into a massive city, only important officials knowing of the danger that lurks in the heart of the city. A magical barrier seals the Feydark entrance, dozens of wizards tending to it throughout the day to make sure the magic is maintained. Its main source of security comes from the magical amulet created by Celedan Ironseer, a powerful enchanter and a skilled blacksmith. He forged the necklace, imparting in it a powerful enchantment that holds the seal intact. It was then broken into 6 equal shards, each one placed on a chain and appointed to each member of the High Council for safeguard. If ever destroyed, it would greatly weaken the barrier, completely disappearing if all necklaces would be destroyed.
