Astronomical Calculator & Mechanism

Based on research in Mesopotamian and Babylonian astronomy. The front dial has two concentric circular scales. The inner scale marks the Greek signs of the Zodiac, with division in degrees. The outer ring 365-day Egyptian Calendar, with the Egyptian months inscribed in Greek. On the back, the Corinthian months are inscribed as well as concise guides on calculations. There are planetary pointers calculating the movements of Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn, as well as the Sun and Moon and other celestial bodies.

Astronomy is the study of celestial bodies and phenomena. Using this mechanism you are able to study the sky to understand the natural world and the cycles of time. This artefact of Antikythera helps you determine the movement of planets and the names and patterns of any constellation you can see. You can use the clues observed in the sky to help you discern realities about the world around you. As long as you have a clear view of the sky, you can determine the following: Which way is north. What time of day/season/year it is. How long it has been since sunset and how long until sunrise. Your approximate location within 50 miles

You gain +2 wis. Allows full use of the ring of shooting stars.

Proficiency in History. You can name constellations and recall lore related to any constellation that you can see. Proficiency in Survival. Your study of the skies allows you to anticipate changes in weather, seasons, and detect unusual celestial occurrences. You can determine the current phase of the moon, as well as how many days remain until the full moon and other celestial events (e.g. a solar eclipse).

If you find one of the following constellations or planetary bodies while looking through astrolabe at night, that sign begins to glow, and you gain the sign's respective benefit:

Scorpio. Stars appear on your back in the shape of a stinger. When you next roll for initiative, you can expend the stars as a reaction to grant you and any other friendly creature within 10 feet of you a +1 bonus to the initiative roll. 
Taurus. Stars appear on your head in the shape of a horn. When you next hit with a melee attack, you can choose to expend the stars as part of the attack to cause the target to take an extra 1d4 radiant damage. 
Gemini. Stars appear on your forehead in the shape of two eyes. You can use a bonus action to expend the stars and touch a creature. They can then choose to add 1d4 to an ability check or saving throw. They can choose to roll the die before or after making the ability check or saving throw.

Venus. Whisps of violet and cream clouds occasionally beat around you. You can use a reaction to envelop a creature within 60ft with the whisps before or after they try to roll persuasion: They roll with advantage + 1d4.
Mercury. Golden whisps flit from your ankles. You can cast the spell "sending", roll a d6- if you roll a 1: you know the message has been sent to the wrong recipient but you don't know who (recipient at the dm's discretion).
Mars. Red clouds encircle your fists. As a bonus action, you temporarily grant yourself a +5 modifier to strength for one round.

When the stars align, our fortunes are almost certainly bright.
