Ariel

Ariel is a Mimic, magically bound to the form of a book by a paisley cage of copper and bronze with a locking clasp. A powerful wizard once bound the mimic to be their repository of knowledge. Left alone in vast libraries for unknown centuries, Ariel has copied the form of many spells and will share them for a price.

You or a single willing creature within 5ft. of Ariel may feed her to gain some of her knowledge. Doing so deals 1d6 necrotic damage per spell level, and can restore a spell slot up to level 4. Once Ariel has consumed at least 20 hp, they will not feed again until after a long rest. If Ariel has been fed, the player who is attuned to the book gains Advantage on Intelligence skill checks until they take a Long Rest.

Enthusiastic Bite. If Ariel deals 15 or more damage in one feeding, the subject creature must succeed a DC 12 Strength save or roll a d6 on the table below for appendages lost.
