Forged by elves with aid of the most renowned blacksmith from the City of Brass, this weapon was forged in the Astral Plane from mithril and imbued with pure magical energy. Fit for a king, it was gifted to a knight who devoted his life to protecting the elven princess. Released from his obligation upon her marriage, the knight fell on hard times and gambled away the priceless gift. Unrecognized for its power, the sword waits for one worthy of its power.
If held by an unaccomplished individual, the blade appears dull and no more special than anything else forged by an apprentice blacksmith.
The blade has a low level of sentience. It can tell the quality of its wielder. Meaning, it knows if its wielder has achieved notoriety and fame through a legendary feat. Once held by someone who meets its criteria, the blade sharpens, the elven sigils on the blade return, and the mithril returns to its full glory.
Once attuned, silver tendrils of pure magical energy swirl around the blade when drawn from its scabbard.
