Potion, very rare
This bottle contains a yellow tinged liquid that inflicts searing pain on contact with wounds and has a distinctive aroma. If enough of this liquid is splashed onto, or consumed by, a creature then it will have disadvantage on all Insight checks taken against Deception or Persuasion attempts for up to one hour.
If applied carefully a single full bottle contains up to ten uses. Also available as a cream.
Notes: Debuff, Deception

Posted Mar 10, 2022Just to clarify, but the mention of the searing pain and distinctive smell are mainly flavour for anyone who has ever used liquid anti-septic, especially on a cut or scrape.
However, they're also good DM fodder to make this a little trickier to use, i.e- if you just splash it on someone's face they're going to notice that happening (so the disadvantage may be counteracted by advantage as they'll be extra suspicious), so the aim is to get it on a hand or such, and quickly enough that the distinctive smell isn't noticed. To sneak it into food or drink will likewise require a bit of cunning (or my favourite spell, Prestidigitation) to disguise it.
Also I opted to make this item very rare due it being reusable a lot of times compared to most potions, but also to reflect that I don't think it's something that should be encountered often. While you might give this item to players earlier in a campaign than other very rare items, it should not be something that they can expect to replace easily once it's gone, so they should ration out the uses carefully. Plus it's also quite strong when you factor in boosts to the Deception/Persuasion side of the equation (e.g- using Enhance Ability to boost Charisma) for the disadvantage vs. advantage combo.
