Weapon (greatsword), very rare (requires attunement by a non- good aligned creature)

The black blade of this sword is crafted from a mysterious arcane alloy. You gain a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.

Disheartening Strike. When you hit a creature with an attack using this weapon, you can fill the target with unsettling dread: the target has disadvantage on the next saving throw it makes before the end of your next turn. The creature ignores this effect if it’s immune to the frightened condition. Once you use this property, you can’t do so again until the next dusk.

Soul Devourer. When reducing a target to 0 hp, your current and maximum hp increases by the remaining hp of the target and you heal that amount. Your hp maximum resets after your next short rest. A creature ignores this effect if the creature is undead.

Cursed. Aetherius is cursed, a fact known when attuning to this weapon. Attuning to this weapon extends the curse to you. A voice echoes through your mind, wanting to be fed. At the start of your turn, after seeing a weakened creature, player must succeed a DC 12 wisdom saving throw or be compelled to strike the weakened creature (friend or foe).

If the bonus to your max hp is greater than 30 from reducing creatures to 0 hp after taking a short/long rest, make a DC 13 WIS saving throw, failure results in 2 points of exhaustion as the life essence expels from your body reducing your max hp to normal. If the bonus to your max hp is greater than 70 from reducing creatures to 0 hp, after taking a short/long rest make a DC 16 CON saving throw. On a failure you die as your body is slowly shrouded and consumed by black smoke.

Proficiency with a Greatsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Graze. If your attack roll with this weapon misses a creature, you can deal damage to that creature equal to the ability modifier you used to make the attack roll. This damage is the same type dealt by the weapon, and the damage can be increased only by increasing the ability modifier.

Notes: Damage: Necrotic, Bonus: Magic, non- good aligned creature, Heavy, Two-Handed, Graze
