Weapon (musket), rare

This unusual musket, decorated with images of playing card suits, is designed to be loaded with a pack of playing cards instead of bullets and powder. Shuffle an appropriate deck of playing cards, and draw a card whenever you fire.

Suit Damage. The musket's damage type depends on the suit of card loaded into it:

  • Hearts. Fire.
  • Spades. Necrotic.
  • Diamonds. Cold.
  • Clubs. Force.

Rank Damage. The musket's damage depends on the rank of card loaded into it:

  • 2 through 10: Face value.
  • Ace: 11.
  • Jack: 12.
  • Queen: 13.
  • King: 14.

Jokers. Joker cards loaded into this musket may have a random effect. Roll 1d6:

  • 1-2: The target takes 20 psychic damage.
  • 3-4: The spell Tasha's hideous laughter is cast on the target with a DC of 16.
  • 5-6: The spell confusion is cast, centered on the target, with a DC of 16.

The effects of loading a tarot deck or Deck of Many Things into this weapon are not known.

Proficiency with a Musket allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
