This simple looking dark grey hooded cloak seems unremarkable at first glance. Upon closer inspection however the inner lining appears to shimmer slightly when close to a source of light. Crafted by followers of Selune and blessed by clerics of Lathander these cloaks make the wearer resistant to necrotic and radiant damage by absorbing half of the damage of those types from any effects that would cause harm to the wearer.
If the Mooncloth Cloak ever absorbs more than 100 points of necrotic or radiant damage in a single round of combat it becomes an awakened version of itself. Awakened by Shadow if absorbing necrotic damage, or Awakened by Light if absorbing radiant damage. Once “awakened” the cloak remains in this state for 10 days and changes as detailed below. If the awakened cloak is removed from the wearer for more than 1 hour or another creature attempts to don the cloak it becomes a normal Mooncloth Cloak once again.
Awakened by Shadow
- The cloak only offers resistance to necrotic damage however it grants advantage on any saving throws to resist effects that cause necrotic damage
- The wearer gains advantage on any stealth checks and while in dim light or darker environments it gains +10 to any stealth checks
- Once per day the wearer can cast the Thunderstep spell
- Once per day the wearer can cast the Life Transference spell and is not resistant to the damage caused by it
Awakened by Light
- The cloak only offers resistance to radiant damage however it grants advantage on any saving throws to resist effects that cause radiant damage
- The cloak sheds bright light in a 30’ radius and dim light for 30’ beyond that
- Once per day the wearer can cast the Blindness/Deafness spell as a 3rd level spell, however it can only cause the blindness effect
- Once per day the wearer can cast the Aid spell as a 3rd level spell
Notes: Resistance: Necrotic, Resistance: Radiant
