The blades on this double bladed Battleaxe resemble a leathery wing of a Demon on one side and a feathered Angel wing on the other. At the base of each wing, they intertwine together into the hilt of the weapon.
The Axe of Limbo functions as a Battleaxe while not attuned.
Once attuned, it counts as a +1 Battleaxe and has the following ability:
You may hold the Axe of Limbo in two hands use the command word "Judgement". The axe immediately transforms based on how your characters soul is judged.
- If your soul is judged as Good due to your recent acts, the axe heads separate into two and the Angel blade is empowered and becomes a +1 Battleaxe that does an additional 1D6 Radiant damage on hit. The Demon blade withers slightly and counts as a +1 Handaxe. Both weapons count as Light for the purpose of Two-Weapon Fighting. If the Angel blade is used against a Celestial or similar creature, it counts as a very evil act, and the "Judgement" command recharges.
- If your soul is judged as Evil due to your recent acts, the Demon blade is empowered and becomes a +2 Greataxe. This weapon will score a critical hit on a roll of 19 or 20. The Angel blade is engulfed in black tendrils of magic, shrinking the Angel blade while increasing the size of the Demon Blade. If the Demon blade is used against a Demon or similar creature, it counts as a very good act, and the "Judgement" command recharges.
The transformation lasts for up to 1 hour. It may be canceled early with a mental command. Other than the exceptions above, you must complete a short rest for the Judgement ability to recharge.
Proficiency with a Battleaxe allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Topple. If you hit a creature with this weapon, you can force the creature to make a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 plus the ability modifier used to make the attack roll and your Proficiency Bonus). On a failed save, the creature has the Prone condition.
