Staff (quarterstaff), uncommon

Two wooden handles carved with ancient rune inscriptions (attunement required to understand their meaning) connected by a short chain.

Using these Nunchucks deals 1d6 bludgeoning damage. As a bonus action before the attack roll, and in an attempt to intimidate your target, you can flourish the weapon. A flourish is succeeded by rolling a d20 greater than 2 + n, where n = the number of flourishes you're already successfully rolled this action (this counter is reset each attack). Each successful flourish deals an extra 1d4 bludgeoning damage. The target is now intimidated by you and will not target you on their next attack.

Upon a failed flourish, the wielder hits themself before the attack, deals 1d6 damage to themselves and can no longer continue to flourish during this attack. All previous successful flourishes still count, however once failed, the target is not intimidated by you and can target you on their next attack.

Proficiency with a Quarterstaff allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Topple. If you hit a creature with this weapon, you can force the creature to make a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 plus the ability modifier used to make the attack roll and your Proficiency Bonus). On a failed save, the creature has the Prone condition.

Notes: Damage: Bludgeoning, Frightened, Versatile, Topple
