Armor (plate), artifact (requires attunement)

It is believed that this polished and beautifully detailed leather armor was a gift from Melora, bestowed on a long-forgotten archdruid and champion of the natural world before the terrors of the Calamity.

Cursed. Once attuned to this armor you can not take off the armor willingly unless someone uses 9th level greater restoration or a wish spell to temporarily stop the curse

Dormant

While wearing the armor in its dormant state, you gain the following benefits:

  • The armor grants you a +2 bonus to AC.
  • This plate armor does not have the speed reduction or stealth disadvantage of normal plate armor
  • While you are transformed by an effect that replaces any of your game statistics with those of another creature, you have a +1 bonus to melee attack and damage rolls, and you retain the benefits of this armor.
  • your nails grow into claws that do 1d4 slashing
  • As an action, you can use the armor to cast polymorph on yourself, transforming into a giant rat while retaining your Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma scores. This property can’t be used again until the next dawn.

Awakened

When the armor reaches an awakened state, it gains the following properties:

  • The AC bonus of the armor increases to +3.
  • your claw attack increases to a d6
  • While you are transformed by an effect that replaces any of your game statistics with those of another creature, your bonus to melee attack and damage rolls increases by 1 (to +2).
  • when you hit an enemy with an attack you gain 2d6 hit points. any extra healing turns into temporary hit points. This takes the form of spheres of blood pooling above your head. You can have three spheres of 50 hit points at a time (150 hit points total). Any dispel magic or similar effect (DC 20 spell check) can cause a targeted sphere to fall on top of you. You lose 50 temporary hit points or whatever is left if you have less than that and are blinded until you spend an action to wipe the blood out of your eyes. The temporary hit points are absorbed into the armor at dawn. If you are a vampire having 50 temporary hp absorb into the armor negates your adversity to sunlight.
  • When you cast the polymorph spell using this armor, you can transform into a giant bat.

Plate consists of shaped, interlocking metal plates to cover the entire body. A suit of plate includes gauntlets, heavy leather boots, a visored helmet, and thick layers of padding underneath the armor. Buckles and straps distribute the weight over the body.

Notes: Bonus: Armor Class, Natural Weapon: Slashing, Ignore: Heavy Armor Speed Reduction, Stealth Disadvantage: Remove, Str. 15 Required, Stealth Disadvantage
