Weapon (longsword), artifact (requires attunement)

The bane of monsters common and strange, this sword was first seen by a legendary monster slayer. Seemingly pure silver with a black leather hilt, etched runes along the blade. One day, the hunter vanished, leaving the sword lost over the ages. You gain a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this weapon.

Monster Hunter. The sword has 10 charges and regains all 10 every dawn. While holding this sword, you can use an action to expend 1 or more of its charges to cast one of the following spells from it. If you cannot cast spells, use the sword's spell save DC of 14 and spell attack bonus of +6: commune with nature (5 charges), darkvision (1 charge), detect evil and good (1 charge), find traps (2 charges), freedom of movement (4 charges), hunter's mark (1 charge), locate creature (3 charges), see invisibility (2 charges), speak with animals (1 charge), and water breathing (3 charges). The sword can maintain concentration on one spell at a time.

Eyes of the Wolf. You can now cast darkvision on yourself from the sword without expending a charge. Your senses also begin to heighten to a point greater than a normal humanoid; as long as you are conscious, you cannot be surprised by enemies. Hunter's mark cast from this sword now also deals an additional 1d6 damage.

Exalted Predator. You have surpassed all and became the apex predator and feel your reflexes have grown stronger than any others. Once a day, Aerondight will cast hunter's mark against an enemy without expending a charge and you now add an additional 1d6 damage. When you are targeted with a melee attack, you can also spend a reaction to use the shimmering light of the blade to impose disadvantage on the attack. You can't use this ability until the start of your next turn.
