Wondrous Item, unknown rarity

A chunk of cheese shorn from an Aesirian cheese sheep. The cheese has an incomprehensible taste and can easily disrupt the mind of anyone whose senses are strongly exposed to it.

Any creature that ingests the cheese and is not currently suffering from a madness is overwhelmed by the cheese and must make a DC 20 Wisdom saving throw. On a failure, the creature becomes afflicted with a random short-term madness for 10 minutes. If a creature fails the saving throw by more than 5 they instead become afflicted with a random long-term madness for 2 days.

If a creature that is suffering from any short-term, long-term, or indefinite madness consumes the cheese they are temporarily cured of their madness for 1d20 hours. If their madness had a duration attached to it, time spent under the effects of the cheese still count towards time spent under the effects of the madness.

Aberrations and gods are immune to negative effects from the cheese.
