Weapon (greatsword), rare (requires attunement)

Aegis is a sword in which the crafter took the adage 'The best defense is a good offense' quite seriously. The dark metal blade is broad enough for a muscular man to position himself behind, and along the center is a thin white metal bracing the blade against assault.

  • As an action Aegis can be shoved into the ground to shelter its owner against attack, granting you 1/2 cover from all ranged attacks from that direction. The sword can be removed with an attack action.
  • As a reaction you may slide Aegis between yourself and your attacker, granting +1 to AC until the start of your next turn. This can be done after the hit die has been declared, but before the damage dice have been rolled.

Proficiency with a Greatsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Graze. If your attack roll with this weapon misses a creature, you can deal damage to that creature equal to the ability modifier you used to make the attack roll. This damage is the same type dealt by the weapon, and the damage can be increased only by increasing the ability modifier.

Notes: Bonus: Melee Weapon Attacks, Damage: Slashing, Heavy, Two-Handed, Graze
