The Awakened Bulwark of the Frostgloom is a large kite shield with a magnificent star burst in the center made of opalescent, clear crystal. Thin, inky black veins lace the heart of the crystal.
The Awakened Bulwark of the Frostgloom is a spirit-enchanted shield, designed to grow with its bearer. The spirit's memories, experiences, and personality will emerge as it grows stronger.
The Spirit Inside
The Awakened Bulwark of the Frostgloom is enchanted with the memories of a dæmon from long ago named Anucha (אנוחה), a spirit of patience and respite.
The Enchantment
The Awakened Bulwark of the Frostgloom has five charges in it. It regains 1d4+1 charges every day at dawn.
While holding this shield, you can make a special melee attack against a creature using one of the charges. As a bonus action, you can make this special melee attack to shove a creature, either to knock it prone or push it away from you. The target must be no more than one size larger than you and must be within 5 feet. You make a Strength (Athletics) check contested by the target's Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) check (the target chooses the ability to use). You succeed automatically if the target is incapacitated. If you succeed, you either knock the target prone or push it 5 feet away from you.
Shields require the Utilize action to Don or Doff. You gain the Armor Class benefit of a Shield only if you have training with it.
