A primitive weapon used by tribes men with more access to strength than dexterity. Aids in lobbying javelins a further distance. It is made of an extremely rare wood found in the western plains, light enough to leave you unhindered, but strong enough to project javelins further. increases base javelin range by 10 ft, and increases maximum range by 40 ft. (40ft/160ft).
Rolling a natural one on an attack roll will cause the wood to splinter. effectively lowering the maximum range over time.
All sense and purpose counts as a ranged weapon for sneak attack.
This tool uses the loading property. (Because of the time required to load this weapon, you can fire only one piece of Ammunition from it when you use an Action, bonus Action, or Reactions, to fire it, regardless of the number of attacks you can normally make)
The feat Crossbow Expert will also remove the loading property
