Weapon (crossbow, hand), very rare (requires attunement by a Warforged)

To attune to this magic hand crossbow, you must embed it into one of your wrists. It remains there for as long as you remain attuned to it, and it can't be separated from you unless your attunement to it ends or you lose the arm it's embedded in.

You can hide or expose the crossbow as a bonus action on your turn, causing it to meld in to your wrist, or to emerge and become visible. While the crossbow is exposed, you can attack with it as if you were holding it, and you gain a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it. You can't load the crossbow using the same arm it's embedded in.

If you have 14 or more levels in the artificer class, the crossbow becomes a valid target for your Repeating Shot infusion despite already being magical. While the crossbow is bearing this infusion, its bonus to attack and damage rolls increases to +3, and while it's exposed, you can use it as a spellcasting focus for your artificer spells as if you were holding it.

Proficiency with a Hand Crossbow allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Vex. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to the creature, you have Advantage on your next attack roll against that creature before the end of your next turn.
