This long-forgotten artifact has a shining golden handle and a blade that seems to gleam even in darkness. It is teeming with holy power, giving off a slight warmth, and a subtle but menacing hum in the presence of evil. Despite its age, it appears brand new: it is unbreakable and magically cleans itself every minute. It is said to have been forged by the dwarven god Moradin for an ancient hero. This longsword can only be wielded by a lawful good paladin; anyone else attempting to wield Aetherius is instantly smited, taking 3D12 radiant damage per round, and gaining no benefits of this sword. Lawful good clerics do not take this damage and may use it as a +3 weapon, but gain no other benefits.
- You gain a +3 bonus to attack and damage with this weapon. Melee attacks against undead, fey, and fiends deal an additional 2D10 radiant damage. On a critical hit against one of these types, the creature must make a charisma saving throw (DC 20) or be instantly destroyed. Additionally, creatures of these types that are slain by Aetherius are turned to consecrated ash and cannot be resurrected or turned to undead.
- While attuned to Aetherius, you gain an aura of warding. You and creatures you choose within 10ft are continuously under the effects of Protection from Good/Evil. If you are a 18th level paladin, this aura extends to 30ft.
- When using a Smite ability or spell, select a number of creatures (no greater than your charisma modifier, minimum 1) that are within 10ft of your target. These creatures take half of the initial damage and suffer the same effects of your Smite.
- As a bonus action, you can cause Aetherius to shine as if targeted by the Daylight spell. You can stop this effect as a free action.
Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Sap. If you hit a creature with this weapon, that creature has Disadvantage on its next attack roll before the start of your next turn.
